An Interesting Group

We had quite a variety of people in our group.  Participants ranged from ages 18 to 80 from those who lived only a few miles away to those who were hundreds miles from home.

Pittston Farm

Pittson Farm is hosted by Ken and Mary Twitchell. They are wonderful host who make every detail feel like home. They provide comfortable lodging, lumber camp cooking, campsites, a small store and gas.  In addition, three delectable meals are served a day, with snacks and carry out lunches as well.  Ben Twitchell is their pastry chef and keeps the pie pantry filled with great goodies.  The residents are not the only good people you’ll find at Pittston Farm.  All the tenets and visitors have stories to tell and good times to share.

The details from the many beautiful gardens, greenhouse, to the hand sewn quilts on every bed, and hummingbird feeders out the sun porch windows make this an enchanting and peaceful place.  But don’t let the attention to the small details let you forget that this place is still a working farm.  The Twitchells’ have horses, Billy goats, lamas, and sheep.  They often have frequent visiting cats, kittens, bats, deer, moose and other drop by guest.

The farm is surronded by many lakes, rivers and streams that provide great fishing, including the North and South Branches of the Penobscot River, Seboomook Lake, Canada Falls Lake, Moosehead Lake, as well as many other lakes, brooks and streams. The area also provides excellent hiking, kayaking, canoeing, hunting, snowmobiling, cross country skiing and ice fishing.
